Trit House has a strong identity in the Australian design world. What inspired you to start the brand, and what did you want to offer the market?
Trit House was born from a desire to bring globally inspired design to Australian homes. With my family's background in furniture retail overseas, I was passionate about introducing unique, design-forward pieces to the Australian market. Our aim was to curate and create collections that blend contemporary aesthetics with warmth and longevity, offering Australians access to thoughtfully designed furniture that resonates with their lifestyles.
Your collections reflect a strong appreciation for global design influences. How do international trends and cultural aesthetics shape the creative direction of Trit House?
Our creative direction is deeply influenced by international design movements, particularly the refined minimalism of Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics. We draw inspiration from global design fairs, architecture, and art. This approach allows us to create pieces that are globally informed yet locally relevant, ensuring our collections remain timeless.
Trit House is renowned for its clean lines and high-quality materials. How do design, materials, and craftsmanship work together in your pieces?
Our design philosophy centres on the harmony of form, materiality, and craftsmanship. We prioritise natural materials like solid timber and stone, valuing their inherent beauty and durability. Our commitment to quality and simplicity allows the furniture to seamlessly integrate into various spaces, enhancing the everyday living experience.
How do you envision the relationship between your furniture pieces and the way people live with them day to day? What experience do you hope to create in the homes of your customers?
We design our furniture to be lived with and loved over time. Our pieces are meant to support daily rituals and stand up to busy family dinners. By focusing on comfort, functionality, and aesthetics, we aim to create environments where people feel at ease and inspired. Our Hawthorn flagship showroom embodies this vision, offering customers a tangible sense of how our furniture can transform their living spaces.
What’s next for Trit House? Are there any new ideas or projects on the horizon?
We're entering an exciting new chapter with the upcoming launch of our dedicated Wendelbo showroom on Church Street in Richmond, opening in August 2025. It’s a brand we’ve proudly partnered with for over a decade, and creating a standalone space where clients can fully immerse themselves in the Wendelbo world feels like a natural and meaningful step forward.
The showroom will showcase the full breadth of Wendelbo’s range in a setting that reflects the brand’s Scandinavian sensibility. It’s a privilege to bring this vision to life and offer design-conscious Australians a deeper connection with the brands they love.
At the same time, we remain focused on curating long-lasting pieces that reflect our commitment to inspired living. As our showrooms grow — whether in Brisbane, Sydney, or here in Melbourne — so does our ability to offer truly inspiring spaces.
