High Tea for Hope Returns

restaurant

12 May 2026

On Sunday 24 May, You Matter’s High Tea for Hope returns to Melbourne, inviting guests to come together for an afternoon defined by generosity, connection and meaningful impact. Hosted at the refined surrounds of 1 Hotel Melbourne, the annual event continues to bring together community, conversation and purpose in a setting that feels both considered and uplifting.

Proudly supported by the Marshall White Foundation, High Tea for Hope is more than a social gathering. It is an opportunity to contribute to the vital work of You Matter, an organisation dedicated to supporting women and children as they rebuild their lives after experiencing family violence. Through the transformation of empty properties into fully furnished homes, You Matter creates spaces that offer not only shelter, but a genuine sense of dignity, comfort and renewal.

It is this tangible and lasting impact that underpins the Foundation’s ongoing involvement. The event reflects a shared belief that strong communities are shaped not only by success, but by care, empathy and a willingness to act when it matters most.

This year’s program brings together a thoughtful and inspiring line‑up. Renowned broadcaster and 3AW presenter George Donikian will host the afternoon, leading guests through an engaging afternoon of insight and reflection. A highlight of the event will be an in‑conversation with Cathy Freeman AC, whose story continues to resonate across generations.

A proud Kuku Yalanji and Birri Gubba woman, Olympic gold medallist and one of Australia’s most respected public figures, Freeman’s journey is defined by resilience, quiet determination and an enduring connection to community. Her presence offers a deeply personal perspective on strength and perseverance, adding a meaningful layer to an already impactful afternoon.

While the setting is elegant and the experience beautifully curated, it is the atmosphere that truly defines High Tea for Hope. There is a genuine sense of warmth that runs throughout the event, where discussions feel purposeful and every contribution, no matter how small, plays a role in creating change.

For those who attend, it is an opportunity to pause, connect and be part of something larger. It is a reminder that meaningful impact often begins with simple acts of coming together.

As the Marshall White Foundation once again invites its community, clients and partners to take part, High Tea for Hope stands as a powerful reflection of what can be achieved when compassion is met with action.
