The Marshall White Foundation

The Marshall White Foundation, founded in 2015, has become a significant source of aid and support for disadvantaged individuals within local communities across Melbourne. Established with a clear mission, the Foundation aims to effect sizable change for the better, focusing on the most vulnerable members of society.

With an initial seed investment of $100,000 by Marshall White, the Foundation laid the groundwork for a self-sustaining model of support. This marked the first step in their ten-year growth strategy, which, to date, has successfully raised over $3,000,000. This impressive fundraising effort enables the Foundation to expedite its mission and expand its reach through charitable partnerships.

The Marshall White Foundation places a significant emphasis on assisting women impacted by domestic violence, mental health challenges, and homelessness. To address these critical issues, the Foundation has forged partnerships with two outstanding charitable organisations: YouMatter and Launch Housing. These partnerships are key in strengthening our support and broadening our impact, ensuring meaningful and lasting change.

The Marshall White Foundation Story

For a deeper insight into the origins and purpose of the Marshall White Foundation, we invite you to read our article here. It traces the story of James Connell, Chairman and Director of Marshall White, and his wife, Emma, who faced a significant personal loss. This event became the catalyst for James to guide the Foundation in its commitment to supporting local communities. The article offers a glimpse into their journey, highlighting the Foundation's dedication and impact.

In June 2023, the Marshall White Foundation hosted a spectacular Black-Tie Ball in the elegant Grand Ballroom of the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. This gala was part of the Foundation's ongoing series of successful annual fundraising events, each year surpassing the last in philanthropic impact. The event, themed as a dazzling 'An Evening in Paris', attracted a wide array of supporters and featured a night of exquisite dining, entertainment, and both live and silent auctions, all aimed at supporting the Foundation's vital mission.

Attracting over 500 supporters, the gala was a significant fundraising achievement, raising in the vicinity of $250,000. It exemplified a collective commitment to supporting women affected by domestic violence, mental health issues, and homelessness, emphasising our community's dedication to making a real difference in these areas.

Our Causes

The Marshall White Foundation is proud to support two remarkable causes through its partnership with YouMatter and Launch Housing. These organisations are at the forefront of addressing domestic violence and homelessness, making a fundamental impact on our communities.

YouMatter is dedicated to aiding women and children affected by domestic violence, providing comprehensive support ranging from shelter to counselling and legal assistance. Their mission revolves around building recovery and resilience, profoundly impacting the lives of those they assist. The Foundation collaborates closely with YouMatter, helping to establish safe havens for individuals rebuilding their lives after escaping family violence. These havens are fully equipped homes where people can find peace, security, and the opportunity to break free from the cycle of violence.

Launch Housing tackles homelessness through emergency and long-term housing solutions, alongside tailored support services like job training and health care. Their commitment goes beyond basic needs, aiming to create sustainable paths out of homelessness and positively impact the community. Recognising the escalating housing crisis, the Foundation took a proactive approach by establishing the Parachute Fund in partnership with Launch Housing in 2022. This initiative is designed to provide timely support to individuals facing significant hardship, helping them regain stability in their lives.
