In The Press – Construction costs rise at fastest pace since 2005

Costs in home building will rise this year at above-average rates as timber and metal prices keep increasing, posing the risk of delays to projects and adding to inflationary pressures in the wider economy, CoreLogic says.

The data provider’s Cordell Construction Cost Index rose just 1.1 per cent in the final three months of last year, down from the September quarter’s 3.8 per cent surge, but supply chain disruptions were likely to keep costs rising at least in the first quarter, CoreLogic research director Tim Lawless said..."
