As I have mentioned before, the market at the moment is not homogenous. Some segments are performing much better than others. For instance, first home buyers have been extremely active in the sub $1 million market where they are taking advantage of lower prices and less competition from investors to get a foothold in the property market. Another category that is out-performing are renovated family homes priced above $3 million. The current market conditions make it more affordable for people to upgrade the family home. The scarcity of property in this segment has resulted in some very competitive auctions and strong prices.
