Contemporary, immaculately styled and thoughtful in every detail – Marcus Chiminello’s home is very much a reflection of his own personality and character. The Marshall White director, auctioneer and one of Australia’s leading agents specialising in prestige and luxury residences, has seen his fair share of incredible residences throughout the years. Marcus took some time out to chat with us about his family home, what makes it special and why it’s time for a move.
For you, Marcus, what makes a house a home?
MC: A house is primarily just a structure but the people in the house make it a home.
How would you describe your home?
MC: An easy to live in contemporary home with a focus on great living areas.
And what is your favourite part of your home?
MC: The kitchen – it’s just the area where everyone seems to congregate.
You’re moving house, what prompted the move?
MC: It was a little unexpected, but just the opportunity to have an abundant garden and tennis court for the kids.
What will you miss about living here?
MC: It will be difficult leaving as we designed and built the home, so it has a lot of our requirements taken care of within its layout.
What are you most looking forward to in your new home?
MC: This may sound like a nightmare to most, but we are really looking forward to going through the renovation and building process again.
What makes great architectural design?
MC: Irrespective of style – great spaces, accentuation of natural light and efficient layouts will enhance the design of any home.
You’ve seen a few houses throughout your career – what homes stand out for you and why?
MC: There have certainly been many favourites, but the one that will be hard to come close to is 9 Towers Road, Toorak – a striking residence that has been described by many as an architectural masterpiece by Wood Marsh.
