Agents & Their Spaces:

Louise Lupton

‘It’s a different kind of lifestyle here from in town,’ Louise says. ‘There’s only one set of traffic lights in Mount Eliza, we’re only 400 metres from the beach, and there’s a really strong sense of community. It’s a village kind of atmosphere.’

Marshall White Peninsula director Louise Lupton remembers finding her Mount Eliza home eight years ago and dreaming of its future potential.

‘My husband and I were looking for something we could renovate and add value to,’ she says. ‘When I look at it now, I see all of the hard work that we put into it, and I’m so proud that we’ve created something that both of us and our three boys can always call home.’

Louise and her family have now lived in the area for over a decade. Originally hailing from farming country in New Zealand, Louise was drawn to the Mornington Peninsula for its tranquil, family friendly feel.

‘It’s a different kind of lifestyle here from in town,’ she says. ‘There’s only one set of traffic lights in Mount Eliza, we’re only 400 metres from the beach, and there’s a really strong sense of community. It’s a village kind of atmosphere.’

That village atmosphere is being increasingly sought by people looking to leave the city, a phenomenon that was exacerbated by the pandemic and a widespread shift to working from home. Louise has observed a significant increase in the people looking to move from Melbourne to the peninsula in the last 12 months.

‘A lot of people from Melbourne are coming down, but they’re looking for properties with a home office because they don’t have to be in the city five days a week anymore,’ she explains. ‘It’s got a lot going for it, the schools are excellent, and it’s not that far from the city.’

Louise joined Marshall White when the Marshall White Peninsula office first opened in August 2020, after almost a decade of prior real estate experience.

‘When I first started as a real estate agent, I wrote a letter to every director of an agency in Mount Eliza, and knocked on every single door,’ she remembers. ‘Within a week, I had three job offers.’

That tenacity and passion has motivated her throughout her career, as well as a passion for matching people to homes.

‘People often make the mistake of thinking that real estate is about homes, but it’s really about people,’ she says. ‘It’s a business that requires you to quickly build trust and rapport with people, particularly with the clients I serve.’

When the opportunity came to join Marshall White, Louise was drawn to the brand’s reputation as a leading prestige real estate agency. ‘I’d always dealt with buyers coming from Melbourne, and when I’d ask them who they were selling with in the city, a lot of the time it was with Marshall White,’ she recalls. ‘It just felt right to have that connection with town.’

As so much of Mount Eliza is owner occupied, Louise has noticed that the vendors she engages are predominantly people selling their family homes, moving out of places where they’ve been for decades.

‘It’s a real privilege, to help those people sell their home and move into the next stage of their life,’ she says. ‘It’s an amazing feeling to hold someone’s hand and guide them through that process. It’s why I do what I do.’

One of Louise’s other major driving forces is to provide a good life for her family, comprising her husband Tim and their three sons Ben, Sam and Will, as well as their dog Stanley. ‘My mum always used to say to me, life is about making memories,’ she says. ‘I’ve created a life where I love doing what I do and am creating those memories all the time, both with my family and in my work.’
