How the Marshall White Property Management Team are Working from Home
While working from home, it’s important to maintain separation between work life and home life to stay motivated and keep concentration.
We’re doing our part to help control the spread of coronavirus and keep our team and clients safe from the risk of infection. We’re abiding by social distancing guidelines surrounding property inspections, practicing excellent hygiene and working with both owners and tenants who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic. At Marshall White, we always pride ourselves on maintaining regular and open communication, both within our team and with our owners and tenants. Now more than ever, this is a central part of our service offering. While we’ve transitioned as a team to working from home, we’re continuing our focus on providing the best service to our clients and strengthening our bond as a team.
Property manager Jayde Keysers is finding the shift to working from home a productive change of pace. ‘I think I’m a little more effective at the moment because I’m less distracted,’ she says. ‘I’m set up as normally as possible, in a spot in my home with great natural light and set aside from the rest of the home so I can turn off mentally when I’m finished for the day.’
We’re taking full advantage of the technology available to us to remain in close contact with the whole team. ‘We have weekly Zoom meetings with the entire property management team, as well as regular calls with our smaller teams. We’re also conducting online meetings with the entire company so we can constantly share our knowledge and continue to be updated by our leaders on the changing times we’re experiencing.’
It’s also important to maintain our internal team culture, particularly when we don’t have the usual level of contact with each other that our office environment provides. Our team uses a WhatsApp group to provide each other with fun updates, as well as using a buddy system, pairing up colleagues so we can keep checking in on each other and maintain accountability within the team.
While we’ve transitioned as a team to working from home, we’re continuing our focus on providing the best service to our clients and strengthening our bond as a team.
Working from home provides both benefits and setbacks. ‘I’m enjoying the convenience of not having to commute, but it can be tricky working from home with children and pets and juggling different priorities,’ Jayde says. While working from home, it’s important to maintain separation between work life and home life to stay motivated and keep concentration.
Keeping up with our clients’ needs in this challenging time is also a vital component to our working from home strategy. We use the Managed app to keep in touch with both tenants and owners, as well as being contactable by email or telephone. ‘All our tenants and owners are experiencing different things right now, but they’ve all been very understanding as we adjust our operations,’ Jayde says. ‘We’ve received a lot of feedback from both tenants and owners thanking us for being there for them in this difficult time.’
We’d like to extend our gratitude to all of our clients for their constant support and understanding. While the way we do business has changed, we’re still here to help.
