Agents and Their Spaces –
Daniel Wheeler

When Daniel Wheeler bought a fixer upper home with his wife, Nat, a year ago, they knew they had their work cut out for them. Located on a delightful tree lined street in Glen Iris, the 1920’s bungalow demanded a renovation, but the structural bones are what attracted them and ultimately led to the creation of their dream family home.

Nat is one half of the duo behind Norsu Interiors, a homewares store specialising in designs from and inspired by the Nordic region.

After a five month renovation, the ‘Norsu Home’, as it is affectionately referred to, is a striking extension of the trademark Norsu brand. The design of the entire home is grounded in a palette of white, grey and timber, accented with blush pink and metallics. Strong textures come together to create a warm and welcoming vibe, from velvet and leather to concrete and stone. A perfectly curated assortment of plants, artwork and decorative ornaments add a unique and personal feel to the spaces, providing depth and layers to the home that are special, specifically chosen and one of a kind. Daniel points out his favourite piece: an eye catching Kerry Armstrong artwork, taking pride of place in the hallway.

‘We love the period nature of our home combined with the simplistic Scandi inspired theme inside. I don’t think my wife would let me have it any other way,’ says Daniel.

Every detail has been expertly planned to perfection. White and soft grey walls coupled with high ceilings accentuate the feeling of space. In the open plan living area, glass sliding doors allow plenty of natural light to stream through, while simultaneously creating a seamless connection to the outdoor zone. Boasting an abundance of room for their two children as well as for alfresco dining in the summer months, the generous backyard is framed by attractively landscaped gardens.

Boasting immense street presence, the façade of the home is timeless, respectfully transformed with contemporary appeal.

‘It’s a little clichéd, but I’m always very proud to drive in the driveway,’ says Daniel.

Having lived in the area for many years, Daniel finds the family friendly environs to be an enormous drawcard.

A strong ability to establish rapport with clients coupled with a genuine passion for pairing people with the right homes has made Daniel an in demand and well respected figure in the industry.

‘It really is an easy place to live. It’s a great family environment, with beautiful tree lined streets plus Central Park and a wealth of options for schools and transport,’ says Daniel.

With a career in real estate spanning nearly two decades, Daniel is an accomplished and awarded auctioneer and director at Marshall White. Offering a personable approach and enviable market knowledge, there was never a doubt in his mind about working in the industry.

‘I always wanted to work with people and homes,’ says Daniel.

A strong ability to establish rapport with clients coupled with a genuine passion for pairing people with the right homes has made Daniel an in demand and well respected figure in the industry.

‘Repeat and referral business always gives me a buzz and that now forms the majority of my business,’ says Daniel.

On the ever evolving market in Melbourne, Daniel offers a reassuringly calming perspective.

‘The market has been very kind to all involved over the last few years. What we are now noticing is more balance between buyers and sellers and the return of a “normal” market,’ says Daniel. ‘Always have an open mind when you buy or sell. Timing markets is impossible. The only time we know there is a peak or a trough is when we reflect. Think of the bigger picture – how long will you live there?’
