Whether high tea is your annual ritual, or if you will be attending for the first time, we suggest trying one of these local delights for an unforgettable experience.

Champagne, cakes and tea – it is a lavish and enjoyable tradition, and one that most will love. Whether high tea is your annual ritual, or if you will be attending for the first time, we suggest trying one of these local delights for an unforgettable experience.

The Stables of Como
In a truly picturesque setting, The Stables of Como is situated in the beautifully manicured Como House and Gardens of South Yarra. While high tea is available throughout the year, the venue’s annual Mother’s Day High Tea is a little extra special. This year, the event will include a grazing table, free-flowing mimosa bar and live music. Must try: the famous lemonade scones.

Zimt Patisserie
With the option of either a Champagne breakfast or afternoon tea, Zimt’s delightful menu caters to those who like to start the day early with bubbles, and to those who would prefer to indulge in the afternoon. Located in Surrey Hills, Zimt is a hidden gem, adored by locals and those in the know for its exceptionally presented cakes and treats. Must try: chocolate salted caramel tart.

Bibelot
If you are seeking a spread that looks almost too pretty to eat, then Bibelot in South Melbourne is for you. Presented by the creative team behind Chez Dré, the institution’s Mother’s Day service offers a selection that has been prepared with the utmost attention to detail. Must try: this year’s limited edition petits gateaux.

True South
A Bayside favourite, True South adds an Argentinian twist to a traditional high tea. Overlooking Port Phillip Bay, this Mother’s Day event is always in high demand due to its incredible menu and its delightful scenic position. Must try: alfajor, a traditional Argentinian biscuit made of shortbread and caramel.

The NGV Tea Room
The Team Room at Melbourne’s NGV offers an array of petite sweet treats, cakes and savouries that are all handmade by the acclaimed team of pastry chefs. Well worth a trip to the CBD, the menu pays an ode to traditional high tea, with an added modern twist that, as expected from this iconic venue, is sure to impress. Must try: the éclairs.
