From the vibrant precincts of Acland Street and Fitzroy Street, an incredible waterfront scene, and an unbeatable mix of architecture, it’s no wonder St Kilda has been a hot-spot of Melbourne for years. The suburb holds an endearing appeal to families, professionals and everyone in between.

Expert agent, Sam Hobbs, is a pivotal part of the Marshall White team and proudly operates in the St Kilda area. His passion for the locale is unsurpassed and his local knowledge unbeatable. Sam took some time with us to chat about what makes stunning St Kilda so special.

Marshall White: You’ve been based in the Marshall White Port Phillip office for six years. Over this time, St Kilda has truly transformed. What do you love most about working in the suburb?

Sam Hobbs: The best part of working in St Kilda is the huge variety in the suburb. There is so much energy, especially in the warmer months. And of course it’s near the water.

MW: St Kilda comprises a blend of old gems and new hot spots – what’s your favourite classic element and something new and exciting that has popped up?

SH: Favourite classic element is the George Hotel precinct and the mansions in the streets off Grey Street. Most exciting new spot would be the new Stokehouse for its brilliant design that takes into account it’s beachfront location.

MW: Do you have any favourite cafes or restaurants that we should try?

SH: My favourite restaurants are Café Di Stasio, Supernormal Canteen and Uncle, and favourite cafes would be Dr Jekyll, Hannah and Miss Jackson

MW: It’s renowned for its beautiful beach, boardwalk and various parks – where do you like to spend time outdoors in St Kilda?

SH: St Kilda Botanical Gardens is great, as is St Kilda Beach. Albert Park Lake is a real attraction as well.

MW: If you could sum up the suburb of St Kilda in three words, what would they be?

SH: Contrasting, historic, lifestyle
